What is wellness?
Deciding what to name the counseling practice was a challenge. It wasn’t dissimilar from talking through baby name options. It feels like a giant commitment when you don’t know this human, what they want, or their being. Thankfully with a couple of decades of mental health experience in our rearview, we knew we wanted a name that was dynamic. Wellness came to mind because it’s a process. You can be well. You can also be working on your wellness.
Wellness for our practice means we believe clients know themselves and what they want. Our role in their lives is helping them figure out how to get to their own version of wellness. We hope that by reflecting what we hear in our clients’ stories, we help them define what matters to them.
Falling unwell occurs when situations block us from what’s important. Whether it’s health, grief, or circumstances that feel out of our circle of control, being out of touch with your wellness is painful. At Centered Therapy & Wellness, we want to help you take steps (and tiny steps count) towards your wellness. Sometimes that looks like noticing negative thought patterns and restructuring how we talk to ourselves about ourselves. Sometimes it’s working on naming emotions and validating them. Oftentimes it’s being nonjudgmental and compassionate towards parts of our selves that are in pain.
We hope that by partnering with your counselor and working on changing patterns, you leave our offices feeling closer to your wellness.
